Perfume is a carefully crafted blend of aromatic ingredients, essential oils, fragrance compounds, solvents, and fixatives designed to create a pleasant and lasting scent. How perfume works: When perfume is sprayed onto the skin, the alcohol quickly evaporates, allowing the fragrance molecules to be released into the air. These molecules evaporate at different rates, creating three stages of scent known as the fragrance pyramid:

• Top notes are the first scents you notice immediately after application. They are light, fresh, and typically last 5–15 minutes.

• Middle (heart) notes emerge as the top notes fade, forming the main character of the fragrance. They usually last for several hours.

• Base notes appear last and provide depth and longevity, remaining on the skin for many hours or even throughout the day.

A perfume's performance depends on factors such as its concentration, the wearer's skin chemistry, body temperature, humidity, and the quality of its ingredients. Applying perfume to pulse points, such as the wrists, neck, and behind the ears, can help enhance its projection and longevity because these areas naturally emit more heat, allowing the fragrance to diffuse more effectively.
